One of the racing Greats Pat Eddery dies.


Extremely sad to report that Pat Eddery died today aged 63.

One of the best flat jockeys and one who really was a great.

Pat Eddery, born in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland on March 18, 1952 He was an 11 times champion jockey and won 4632 races. Including all of the classics and 4 Arcís.

Many have spoken today about how wonderful Pat was as a horseman and a gentleman.

John Dunlop described Pat Eddery as a "delightful man".

Lester Piggott said Pat Eddery "was a natural horseman"

One of his many fine wins came on Dancing Brave in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in 1986. This was a truly magical ride from the master.

Another of his finest rides came on GRUNDY in the 1975 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Ascot) where he was a victor against Bustino. Many good judges see this as his best ever victory.
