California Chrome wins the world's richest horse race

California Chrome was superb today on the world’s richest race.

Last year in the race he was given a poor high draw 9 from 9 on a course where low draws are preferred. He ran well in the race but was never able to get to the winning finishing 2 ½ lengths down in second place.

This years it must have been very disappointing for connections to get another blow when he was once again given a very poor draw, this time 11 from 12.

However he put last year performance behind him. He broke from the gate in good syle and got quickly into 4th place and never went back from there.

Always traveling like a true champion he was still able to hit the front even after having to make his way on the outside for most for the race.

When he hit the front he quickly put any doubt to bed and was a very confident winner.

$10 million was the prize for his win in the world’s richest horse race.

Injury ruled out a planned visit to Royal Ascot last year but connections are not thinking of coming over this season. Connections stated "I don't think he'll go to England, we'll give him 30 days at the farm to let him unwind and the ultimate goal is the Breeders' Cup ."
