Ruby to miss National

Ruby Walsh will miss his ride in the 20166 Grand National on SIR DES CHAMPS after suffering a fall at Aintree today.

He suffered a surprising fall on a horse that was many peoples idea of the meeting banker, Voutour.

He then took the ride on Blood Cotil in the Topham Chase and fell at the 15th fence.

He stood himself down for the rest of the day but later announced that he had suffered a fracture to his wrist and would miss the final and most important day of the meeting.

Nina Carberry will take his Grand national ride on Sir Des Champs and Paul Townend will have the envious task of riding Ruby's other fancied mounts Douvan and Yorkhill.
