The_Race

The 2000 Guineas is the first of the five English classic flat races for three year old thoroughbred horses.

The 2000 guineas was so named so because the prize money for winning the race was 2000 Guineas.

The 2000 Guineas is the first leg of the traditional Triple Crown which is rated as the supreme test for thoroughbred colts which includes the Derby and the St Leger. The last horse to win the Triple Crown was Nijinsky in 1970.

The_2017_Race

Today's favourite Churchill comes here today on his first run having had a really good season last season. It culminated in him winning the group 1 Dubai Dewhurst stakes at this course over 7 furlongs. He looked really impressive that day and is a worthy favourite.

Barney Roy, a bay colt trained by Richard Hannon has been impressive in his to run so far. He had one run at Haydock last season over a mile and ran out a good winner in his maiden one run so far this year over 7 furlongs in the Greenham and he was impressive having one of his rivals dream Castle in behind.

Al Wukair comes over from this French stable of Andre Fabre. This unbeaten colt was the winner of the group 2 Prix Djebel in his native France and should give a good account of himself.

Irish raider Eminent is an unbeaten colt who has run twice before at this course over a mile. He was a good winner of the Craven stakes a few weeks ago and that should give a good chance your today.

Dream Castle started his career this season having not run as a two-year-old. He won his maiden well enough but could only finish 2nd to Barney Roy at Newbury and is difficult to see how we should turnover that form today.

Lancaster Bomber had six runs last season only winning once and has run once in Medan this season. He is a bit of a globetrotter as the also run in the USA at the end of last year. A reasonable chance of making the frame.

Top Score has run nine times in his life but his form does not suggest he has much of a chance here.

Spirit of valor a good horse but whose past form does not look good enough for this race.

Larchmont Lad trained by Richard Hannon looks a good enough horse tickets chance today however he did have a disappointing run in the Craven stakes on this course over this distance so is difficult to see how we can improve on that.

Law and Order a nice colt whose form suggests he is not really up to this class.
