2018 Race Conditions

For 6yo+ to be ridden by Jockeys or Amateur Riders who, before December 3rd, 2018, have ridden not less than 15 winners in chases or hurdles under the Rules of Racing and/or the Rules of the Irish National Hunt Steeple Chase Committee and ridden not less than 10 of these winners in chases Minimum weights 10-0 Penalties after November 18th, a winner of a chase 3lb (No penalty to increase a horse's weight above 11st 12lb) Don Poli's Handicap Mark 160

Don Poli is a top class chaser who comes here after a 664 day lay off. He likes this course and a while back beat the very smart Many Clouds here. Has to give weight to all others and a long lay off means he has t be overlooked this time.

Blaklion was an impressive winner of this race last season in heavy ground. Things went wrong for him after. He is good at this time of year and must be respected to go very close again.

Ballyoptic from the same stable as Blaklion is a consistent sort who long soft ground and long distances, he was second In the Scottish National over 4 miles. Will be staying on at the end and has a good chance.

Noble Endeavor like stablemate Don Poli he has been off a long time (600 days). Has it all to prove after that layoff. Best watched today.

Present Man Won really well at Wincanton and is an improver. Should go well.

Ultragold has good winning course form over these fences. Stepping up in trip and found it hard when tried before and looks to have a test in soft ground.

Missed Approach is a good horse as his win at the festival last season but his inconsistencies are a worry.

Vieux Lion Rouge is a good horse who has not fulfilled his promise yet. Winner of this race in 2016. Come here after having a wind op. Could go very well.

Just a Par comes here after a long lay off. Has completed the national twice but at 11 looks to have it all to do today.

Irish raider Crosshue Boy had a great novice season and has the benefit of a hurdle prep race. An interesting runner.

Regal Flow won the Midlands national on heavy ground and looks the Grand National type. Poor recent form is a worry but will not be phased by the trip and if he takes to the fences he should be on course for the big one in April.

Walk in the Mill is a good horse who struggled in heavy ground at Haydock. Any more rain would be a worry but likes these type of park courses.

Call it Magic was good a few seasons ago but seems to have lost his way. Plenty to do on recent form.

Old timer Highland Lodge is a previous winner and has run 4 times in this race. This will be his season's target and will run well.

Fine Theatre loves soft ground but looks out of his depth in this.

Mustmeetalady has little chance on known form and is out of the handicap.

Frederici runs well over these fences and was 4th last year. Looks to have plenty to do today but could run into a place.

Dare to Endeavour is way out of the handicap and does not really look good enough.
