Race Date : 24th November 2018

What a race we have in prospect today with Last seasons Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River taking on the runner up and top class Mite Bite and also the massive potental of Thistlecrack. Also the JLT novice chase winner Shattered Love alongside the consistent Bristol de Mai.

Last year Bristol De Mai put in a really brilliant performance to win this race by a massive 57 lengths and it was against some good competition with Cue Card and Tea For Two in behind.

He has a tougher task today at his favourite course with the ground being not as soft as it normally is at this time of year.

Clan Des Obeaux is a young horse taking on horses with established form. He is highly thought of by trainer Paul Nicholls, and he has won this race a few times before. An interesting runner.

Might Bite oozes class in all his races. He was beaten in the Gold Cup at the festival by Native River but the slightly less distance and with a couple of horses that like to make the running, he looks to have everything in his favour to open his seasons account today.

Raining Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River had a great last season. Comes here to take on some of the best today. Will like to be up with the pace and his class will ensure that the race is run to a true pace. Every chance and although he won first time out last season he may be better after a run.

The most interesting runner in the race is perhaps Native River’s stablemate Thistlecrack. He is a fast fluent runner who runs up with the pace. He is a King George winner but has been off the track for almost a year. At 10 he is the oldest horse in the race and is not going to improve, but he does not really need to he just has to run up to his best. I don’t think he would be a surprise winner but the other younger horses have more appeal.

Selection: Might Bite.

Story_of_the_Race

A really good race today with last years winner Bristol De Mai coming puy on top again by a good margin. There is no doubt he is a good horse who loves this course. He is also a horse that goes very well at this time of year. He had a wind operation last season and this is only his second race since that. He put up a stellar performance today and never really looked in danger.

Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River once again ran a great race. He is so consistent in his running and was flat out all the way today. He is sure to come on for that run on a course that may not suit him. Stayed up to his task today.

Thistlecrack made too many jumping errors today. He was not fluent in the early part of the race but stayed on really well. There was a lot of talk before the race today about the fences and many good judges thought that the fences were bigger and more tightly packed than normal and this may have not helped Thiostlecracks cause.

Clan Des Obeaux ran a good race today. He never looked like he was going to win but ran well for a young horse and there was plenty to like about his performance.

The concern over the fences might also have been the cause for a lacklustre performance fromMight Bite. He seemed to give his fences plenty of light and jumper up and down at them. This probably took too much out f him and he was really the first to be struggling and finished a long way last.
