Great race here today with last year’s winner Menorah taking his chance again with none of his rivals from last year re-opposing. He looks like he could be worth supporting to retake this.

The Grand National winner Many Clouds makes his re-appearance here and should run well with his long term targets the Cheltenham Gold Cup and The Grand National once again.

Cue Card will be looking to put what was a disappointing season for him last season and will be looking to get this season of with a swing.

Dynaste is an interesting runner who ran in a Valuable French hurdle at Auteuil on the 11th October and was not given a hard race once he had no chance of winning. All in all the jump season is starting to pick up momentum now.

NUMBER FORM NAME AGE WEIGHT TRAINER JOCKEY RATING

1 11161- Many Clouds 8 11-10 Oliver Sherwood Leighton Aspell 167
An eight-year-old Brown gelding trained by Oliver Sherwood.
This mighty progressive eight-year-old gelding had his best season to date last season.
It started with a listed chase win at Carlisle and ended with him winning the world's greatest steeplechase, the Grand National in April. Along the way he won the grade 3 Hennessy Gold cup chase at Newbury and also the Betbright, a grade 2 at Cheltenham. In fact his only really below performance race was in the Cheltenham Gold cup where he finished a good sixth but disappointed on expectations.
Comes here today nice and fresh, and he is a horse that often goes well when fresh. This grade 2 race is often run at a fast pace and it is possible that that might be the only negative as he seems to be a true stayer.
9 wins from 20 races (six from 11 in chases) on ground ranging from good to soft through to heavy and up to a distance of 4 miles 2 1/2 furlongs.

2 12851- Menorah 10 11-10 Philip Hobbs * 167
A 10-year-old Bay gelding trained by Philip Hobbs.
A consistent top class chaser who seems to run well in many of the top class chases at around 3 miles or just shorter. Indeed only one of his wins has come at a distance over 2 miles and 6 furlongs and that was in this race last year where he had some really good horses in behind.
He should act on the good ground expected today and will have much in his favor and is strongly fancied to run another good race.
13 wins from 35 starts (seven from 22 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 3 miles and 1 furlong.

3 113PP- Sam Winner 8 11-10 Paul Nicholls Sean Bowen 160
An eight-year-old Bay gelding trained by Paul Nicholls.
A good progressive horse who seems to be improving all the time. He runs in good races and is usually consistent however towards the end of last season he put in two well below par races in the Cheltenham Gold cup and the Scottish National where he was pulled up in both races. Something was obviously awry then and it will be interesting to see if he comes back to show the old form that he used to have and if he bounces back to form could well be in the shout at the business end of the race here, however he can't be fancied until we've seen him put at least one good run in.
6 wins from 28 starts (three from 12 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 3 miles an 1 furlong.

4 3U143- Holywell 8 11-6 Jonjo OŽNeill Richie McLernon 162
An eight-year-old Bay gelding trained by Johnjo O'Neill.
Another good progressive horse who was running in the best races of the season again.
He is a winner of a grade 1 at Aintree back in April 2014 where he beat the very smart Don Cossack, who looks to be quietly fancied for this year's Gold cup, by 10 lengths over 3 miles.
I'm sure that form today would certainly have him fighting out the finish. That said this horse often improves for his first run.
7 wins from 21 starts (five from 12 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 3 miles and 2 furlongs.

5 P2-F15 Ballynagour 9 11-0 David Pipe Noel Fehily 163
A nine-year-old Bay gelding trained by David Pipe.
A French import who loves the soft ground and whos best winning form is around 2 1/2 miles. Having said that he ran a cracking race at the back end of last season in the Betfred Bowl chase at Aintree over 3 miles and 1 furlongs where he was only beaten a head by the very smart Silviniaco Conti. He also had a few of his rivals today in behind in the form of Hollywell (third) and Minorah (fifth).
A very interesting runner here today.
5 wins from 21 starts (three from 14 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to very soft and up to a distance of 2 miles 5 1/2 furlongs.

6 4452-4 Cue Card 9 11-0 Colin Tizzard Paddy Brennan 160
A nine-year-old Bay gelding trained by Collin Tizzard.
A really top-class chaser at around 2 1/2 miles. When tried at 3 miles has often found a few too good for him. All that said he is of top-class and his class could easily carry through this race today. He should be strongly fancied and also well supported in the market. He is a multiple grade 1 winner and gets a pull in the weights from some of his rivals here today and that should give him a great chance.
10 wins from 25 starts (six from 18 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 3 miles an 1 furlong.

7 323-9 Dynaste 9 11-0 David Pipe Connor O'Farrell 166
A nine-year-old grey gelding trained by David Pipe.
Another top-class consistent horse and multiple grade 1 winner.
Although running really well last season he unusually failed to get his head in front finding just one or two too good for him in top-class races.
Has had one hurdle race so far this season in October at Auteuil and although he didn't run particularly well that day I suspect it has put him spot on for today's race.
He is another who gets weight from a lot of these in the field and his sure to put up a really good performance today.
7 wins from 24 starts (five from 12 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 3 miles and 1 furlong.
