THE RACE
-----------------------------------
The Grand National or the worlds greatest steeplechase as it is often referred to as is a horse race run over steeplechase fences at Aintree racecourse in Liverpool..
The distance run in this race is 4 miles 2 furlongs and 74 yards is the longest race run in the UK today.
This race is a unique test or horse and rider and the 30 fences that are jumped are a real test of bravery. Unlike most racecourses in the uk the fences are varied in height, width and depth and also the landing side on many of the fences is lower than the take off side and therefore do not offer a view of the landing to the horse.
There are 16 fences and 14 of then are jumped twice, the exceptions being the water and The Chair jumps. This make a total of 30 jumps to be made.

THE 2022 RACE
-----------------------------------
Minella Times. Last year's winner in good style. Poorer form this year and up 15 pounds in the ratings - Much more difficult this year. RATING ***
Deta Work. Best horse in the race. Good run last time out beating Tiger Roll. Will go well and looks like the one to beat RATING *****
School Boy Hours. Won the Paddy Power at Leopardstown at Christmas over three miles but pulled up at the festival last time out. RATING ***
Any Second Now. Third Last year and has been getting better all season. Good Chance RATING ****
Run Wild Fred. Consistent horse. Second in an amateur event at the festival last time out. Interesting runner. RATING ***
Lost in Translation. Good horse. Mildmay winner here a few years ago and a good win in grade 1 Betfair chase 2019. Lost his way since. A return to form would see him well in here but has been "off the boil" in the last two seasons. RATING ***
.
Brahama Bull. Well exposed and not be good enough. RATING *
Burrows Saint. 4th Last year and is an Irish National winner. May have been overlooked by many. RATING ***
Mount Ida. A good mare who runs mainly at distances short of this, however, has won over 3m 2f on only try. Could well be a "Dark Horse". RATING ***
Longhouse Poet. Well fancied and has been impressive. Winner of a Grade 1 in Irland and a recent hurdle run will put him spot-on for the race. RATING ****
Fiddler on the Roof. Ultra consistent runner. Stays and jumps really well. Nothing to fear today. Should run well. RATING ****
Two for Gold. Another consistent horse. Jumps well and in form. Chances today. RATING ***
Santini. Was a top-class horse a few years ago but lost form and perhaps interest in the game. On his best form, yes he has a chance but he has not shown that for a while. RATING **
Samcro. Was very highly regarded in the past but form poor for too long now. RATING **
Escaria Ten. Good chaser. Good jumper. Travels well in races. Looks like an extended race could be beneficial. Chances. RATING ***
Good Boy Bobby. Good consistent form. A spring horse who often runs well this time of year. Grand National Winning trainer who loves the long-distance chases. Not much not to like. A good run is expected RATING ****
Romain De Senam. Nothing in the form to say he will have a chance here? RATING *
Coko Beach. A young horse who could improve but looks to have little chance today. RATING *
De Rasher Counter. Been off course for over a year before an ordinary comeback run in Feb. Would be a surprise winner. RATING *
Kildisart. Another Been off course for over a year before an ordinary comeback run in March. Would be a surprise winner. RATING *
Discorama. 7th in the race last year. Ran into many problems and still got home, if tired. A good round and he is sure to improve on that. RATING ***
Top Ville Ben. Well exposed and does not look good enough. RATING *
Enjoy D'allen. Young consistent improver. Looks better at shorter distances so far in his career. Not without a chance but others have more appeal. RATING **
Anibale Fly. Great old horse and has been 4th and 5th in the race. Looks like his chances have gone now. RATING **
Dingo Dollar. A good sort who likes long distances. Loves to run from the front which can be an advantage here. Good 2nd in a Scottish National. Chances here today RATING ***
Feewheelin Dylan. Last year's Irish national Winner. A true test of stamina will suit but he is inconsistent. RATING **
Class Conti. Poor recent form. Has not won for a long time. Would be a surprise winner. RATING *
Noble Yeats. 7 Years old and they have a very poor record in this race. One of the best Grand national Fence riders on board in his last race. Cant be fancied to win. RATING *
Mighty Thunder. Scottish national winner in 2021. Has been out of form since. A return to form would give him chances but an unlikely winner. RATING **
Cloth Cap. Fav last year and pulled up. That run may have left its mark as he has not seen anything like his old form since that run. Difficult to fancy today. RATING **
Snow Leopardess. Top-class mare and unbeaten this season. Becher winner over these fences and stays. Well fancied and great chance. RATING *****
Augusta Gold. Good horse but has never won at a distance over 2m 5f. Should not be good enough. RATING *
Commodore. Poor last season but great first run at Cheltenham in December give him a chance. Not seen since as he goes well when fresh and so has been kept for this. Chances. RATING ***
Deise Aba. Good consistent long-distance chaser. Should run well if he takes to the track. RATING ***
Blacklion. A good horse in the past. 13 years old now. Will probably get around today but is an unlikely winner. RATING **
Poker Party. Had a long layoff in 2020 and has not been the same since. Little chance. RATING *
Death Duty. Top class novice but has been poor in the last few seasons. Easily passed over today. RATING *
Domanine De L'Isle. Does not look good enough. RATING *
Eclair Surf. A dark horse just sneaks in down the bottom. Young and excels at extreme distances. Low weight. Chances. RATING ****
Fortescue. improving and in form. Big run expected. RATING ***
Selectons 1. Delta Works 2. Good Boy Bobby. 3 Eclair Surf 4.Fiddlerontheroof.
