Race Conditions

Unbeaten in two really good chases this season, Bristol De Mai has shot up in the ratings. ON his first race of the season be was very good beating the smart Blaklion in the Charlie Hall chase. He followed that up winning the Betfair chase on his favourite track Haydock shortly afterwards. The key to this horse may be the ground, the softer the better for him. Am improving consistent horse who could go close.

Double Shuffle pulled up in last seasons Grand National but was much better at this meeting when winning the Handicap chase. Likes genuine good ground and if he gets it we will see improvment. A nice horse who will love the step back up to 3 miles but he looks to have too much on his plate in this good renewal.

The Colin Tizzard trained Fox Norton is another good young improver who could be the right sort for this contest. He is rarely out of the frame and will be spot on for the race after a good run (2nd) in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek. He is a player here.

Might Bite is the worthy favourite here. A young improver who has shown real class. The RSA novice chase winner at the festival, he was very impressive in his seasonal debut and will be fit and raring to go today.

Tea for Two was unluky in The Gold Cup last season unseating his rider at the 2nd. He made up for that however at the Aintree festival winning the Grade 1 Betfair Bowl. Hasn’t hit form yet this season, and was 4th last year, so difficult to fancy even though he is a talented horse.

Thistlecrack won this in great style last season but lost a lot of last season with injury. Not impressive on comeback hurdle at the start of the month but will come on for that race. He has too much raw ability to ignore and is a big price.

Traffic Fluide is a good horse but has not shown the form that he can win a top-class race like this and would be a surprise winner.

Whisper was a good hurdler and he has transferred that to his chasing. He was 8th in the 2016 Ryanair at the festival but has since changed regular jockeys and has been a revelation with Davy Russell riding and has not been out of the first two in his last 6 races. Due to riding commitments he has a different jockey on board today. Continued improvement needed but should be there fighting out the finish.
