The Oaks traditionally is the third of the five English classic flat races for three year old thoroughbred horses.

The race is open to fillies only and is run in late May or early June at Epsom Downs racecourse.

The race is run at the same meeting as another classic race which is the equivalent race for all three year olds which is The Derby

Looks like a very interesting Oaks this year with the fillies going for classic glory.

Legatissimo is well fancied by connections after her great win in the 1000 Guineas in a race that they felt was the absolute minimum trip for her. No training setbacks since the big race means she must have a great chance of the double.

Jack Naylor has been well supported in recent days with her starting price less than half of what it was. She is another expected to be better of this longer trip.

Luca Cumani thinks that his horse Lady of Dubai should handle the tricky Epsom course after her good race at Goodwood

Crystal Zvezda is a talented horse according to connections and is showing real spark now.

We are used to having more fancied Aiden O'Brien horse here but he runs three and two have a chance of making the frame.

Looks like we are in for a cracking race today.

NUMBER DRAW FORM NAME AGE WEIGHT TRAINER JOCKEY RATING

1 3 16-2 Al Naamah 3 9-0 A Fabre Gregory Benoist 102
A nice bay filly by Galileo she is trained in France by Andre Fabre.
Although she ran well in a Group 3 at Saint Cloud on her last run she will have to improve to win this race on her form so far.

2 7 942-2 Bellajeu 3 9-0 Ralph Beckett Andrea Atzeni 98
A bay filly by Moutjeu. She has yet to win a race and stamina is also a worry. Easy to overlook in this field.

3 8 31-1 Crystal Zvezda 3 9-0 Sir Michael Stoute Richard Hughes 107
A fine chestnut filly by a good miler Dbawi.
Ran really well back in May over a mile and two furlongs winning by a good distance on good ground. Looked as if she could get further and likely to start favourite today. Trained by Michael Stoute who has a good record was fillies.

4 5 6-131 Diamondsandrubies 3 9-0 A P OŽBrien Seamie heffernan 106
A bay filly by Fastnet Rock trained by Aidan O’Brian in Ireland.
Smart winner of the Cheshire Oaks taking really good command at the end of the race and being pushed clear staying on. She was entitled to win that race but the margin of the win was quite impressive. One of five entries from Aidan O'Brien.

5 9 1113-4 Jack Naylor 3 9-0 Mrs John Harrington F.M.Berry 110
A bay filly by Champs Elysees and trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington.
A winner of a Group 3 fillies stakes last season over 7 furlongs this horse has not been tried over a distance greater than 1 mile, a distance that she won over at the Curragh last August. She kept on well that day and her breeding suggests that she should get this trip. One of the likely players at the end.

6 10 33-11 Jazzi Top 3 9-0 John Gosden Frankie Dettori 99
A bay filly by Danehill Dancer trained by John Gosden.
Progressive type who stayed and won really well over 10 furlongs on good to firm at Newmarket back in May. Was finishing well that day and the trip does not look like it should be a problem. Ridden today by Frankie Dettori and is one of the more lively candidates in the race.

7 11 7312-1 Lady Of Dubai 3 9-0 Luca Cumani Adam Kirby 105
A bay filly by Dubawi trained by Luca Cummani.
A listed race winner over 10 furlongs she has been progressive when raced on a good surface. Another who must step up today but not without chance.

8 1 12-411 Legatissimo 3 9-0 David Wachman Ryan Moore 116
A bay filly by Danehill Dancer trained by David Wachman.
Another good progressive horse who has trained on well this season. Two fine wins to her name the first over 1 mile and 1 1/2 furlongs where she stayed on really well.
She followed that up with a really good win in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket where she was going away from the field at the end of the race. Looks very likely to get the extra distance today and will be vying for favouritism in the betting market.

9 8 618-00 Qualify 3 9-0 A P OŽBrien Colm O'Donoghue 102
A bay filly by Fastnet Rock trained by Aidan O'Brien winner of a group 3 7 furlong fillies race last season but has not looked impressive this season. Finished last of 13 in the 1000 Guineas and then 10th in the Irish equivalent. Looks to have little chance year today and would be a complete surprise to even make the frame.

10 6 31-11 Star Of Seville 3 9-0 John Gosden William Buick 109
A bay filly by Duke of Marmalade trained by John Gosden.
A really nice filly and winner of the Musidora stakes at York over 1 mile 2 1/2 furlongs. Was going really well towards the end although she did hang a little to the left.
Looks to have a good chance today and would be expected to step up on what she has done so far.

11 4 3111-2 Together Forever 3 9-0 A P OŽBrien Joseph O'Brien 110
A bay filly by Galileo trained by Aidan or Brian.
Winner of the Dubai fillies Group 1 mile at the Curragh was the peak of her 1 mile runs. She was then tried over 1 mile two and a half furlongs in the Musidora stakes won by her rival today Start of Seville.
She has a head to make up on her rival today and gets a 4 pound pull in the weights as she carried a penalty in the last race, however she was flat out at the end where as the winner seem to be staying on better. If she gets the trip she will be an interesting runner.
