Alluringly.
A bay filly trained by Aidan O’Brien, she finally won her maiden at the start of this season in good style but that was an ordinary race. She was then stepped up to listed class in the Cheshire Oaks where she started favourite but was beaten by one and three-quarter lengths by Enable who she takes on again today. Other than possibly the tight track of Chester did not suit there is no reason to think that she should overturn that form today.

Coronet.
A nice grey filly and one of two runners today from trainer John Gosden. Winning her maiden on a first start she then won a listed race at the back end of last season. In May she went to Deauville to try her hand in a Group 1. The ground was soft that day and she finished in third place behind two outsiders. Will need to improve.

Daddys Lil Darling
USA entry this bay filly ran with great credit when second in the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on 5 May. Campaigned on dirt therefor it is difficult to know how she’ll do when facing turf here. She will have a really good jockey today with Olivier Peslier riding. She is still a maiden and is difficult to fully assess. She should be much better than her large odds today suggest.

Enable.
A nice bay filly trained by John Gosden. Her chance today is probably best judged on her good win in the Cheshire Oaks. She looked good that day over a distance just short of this but quickened well and was eased down towards the finish and never looked in any doubt. A good chance today.

Horseplay.
The winner of this year’s pretty Polly stakes, over 1 mile 2 furlongs. She made good progress throughout the race and ran all well at the finish. Should come on a bit for that.

Isabel De Urbina.
A bay filly trained by Ralph Beckett. She was good second in the pretty Polly stakes at Newmarket on 7 May beaten that day by another contender today horseplay. No reason to see way she should turn that over today.

Natavia.
Trainer Roger Charlton sends this chestnut filly take a chance today. An impressive winner in a Newbury listed stakes race back on 20th May . It was really great to see how well she quickened a furlong from home and kept up to work really well. A live chance.

Pocketfullofdreams.
One of three runners from Aidan O’Brien this bay filly while having quite a lot of talent, does not look up to the class of this race today.

Rhododendron.
The favourite for the race and trained by Aidan O’Brien this bay filly was second in the 1000 Guineas. She had an unlucky run in the race and needed to be switched left in an important part of the race. She didn’t catch the winner that day but stayed on and may well have won but for that problem. She stayed on like she would get this further trip and is a good strong favourite.

Sobetsu
Sobetsu is a bay filly coming from the Godolphin connections. She could only manage fifth of eight runners in the Dubai fillies mile, a Group 1 at the end of last season which was won by Rhododendron. First-time up this season over a distance of just over 1 mile and 1 furlong at Deauville she was a winner by a good margin and had another og her challengers today Coronet back in third. Expected to make progress from there and has a good chance today.

Story_of_the_Race

The first drama in the race took place on the way to the start when the American entry Daddys Lil Darling bolted on the way to the post and the jockey Olivier Peslier had to jump off this horse, which was moving at around 30 -40 MPH for fear that the horse would crash in to the starting gates or rails. It appears that the horse may have got spooked by the thunder that accompanied the lightening a little way off in the distance.

The winner of the race Enable had a really good run in the race and was well positioned throughout. She stayed ion strongly in the final furlong and won by 5 lengths.

The race favourite Rhododendron was also well positioned in the race and took up the lead 2 furlongs from home. She and the winner were well clear of the rest of the filed but she was not able to go the pace of the winner at the finish.

Rhododendrons stablemate Alluringly was held and made good progress and finished 3rd 6 lengths behind the second horse.

Horseplay was keen at the back at the start of the race and made good progress at the end to finish 4th

Coronet was in the rear and passed beaten horses to take 5th.

Held up at the rear, Isabel De Urbina but plugged on past beaten horses to take 6th

The early leader Paocketfullofdreams set a good gallop in the race but was caught two furlongs from home and dropped to 7th

Led for short time and was going well but soon weakened to finish 8th

Natavia Held up but soon outpaced and finished last.
