A really conpetitive race in store for us today.

Top weight Wishful Thinking is a great consistent horse who won this race last season. He goes well when fresh and could well repeat last years effort today

Nobody rides this course better than Sam Waley-Cohen who will once again be riding his fathers horse Rajdhani Express who is a classy number and should go well.

Buywise is another interesting runner given that he ran so well in the Paddy Power at Cheltenham around this time last season.

A competitive race indeed.

Race conditions: - For 4yo+ Weights highest weight 11st 10lb Minimum weight 10-4 Penalties after October 17th, a winner of a chase 4lb; No penalty to increase a horse's weight above 11st 10lb

NUMBER FORM NAME AGE WEIGHT TRAINER JOCKEY RATING

1 31PP7- Wishfull Thinking 12 11-10 Philip Hobbs Richard Johnson 162
A 12-year-old chestnut gelding trained by Philip Hobbs.
Well exposed 12-year-old horse who always seems to be running in big races.
Did not have the best of seasons last season but started really well winning this race by 12 lengths over his nearest rival.
A two-time winner at Aintree and therefore has a liking for the course and he likes a bit of cut in the ground therefore you would not think he would be unsuited by today. He may well catch a few of these out today and as he goes well when fresh, he wouldn't be a surprise winner.
12 wins from 38 starts (9 from 32 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs.

2 46781- Rajdhani Express 8 11-8 Nicky Henderson Mr. Sam Waley-Cohen 160
An eight-year-old brown gelding trained by Nicky Henderson.
A really nice French import who does well at around this distance.
He was a Festival handicap winner in 2013. Has a liking for this course as he shown when a very impressive winner in the Topham Chase at the Aintree Festival, he had his field strung out that day with the second being 10 lengths in behind and the third a further 11 lengths behind.
Will have the very smart ammeter Sam Waley- Cohen on-board today and there is not a jockey that rides this course better than him.
Winner of 6 from 26 starts (f4 from 16 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles 4 1/2 furlongs.

3 12653- Johns Spirit 8 11-5 Jonjo O´Neill Richie McLernon 157
An eight-year-old bay gelding trained by Jonjo O'Neill.
A smart horse who usually does well around this time of year. He is a past Paddy Power Gold cup Chase winner which he won in good style back in 2013 and had some of his rivals today in behind (Wishful Thinking sixth and Rajdhani Express in fifth).
Was tried in the Melling chase last April finishing third behind the very smart Don Cossack and Cue Card.
Cannot be ruled out in this very competitive race.
7 wins from 27 starts (4 from 18 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to distance of 2 miles 4 1/2 furlongs.

4 1251-8 Sound Investment 7 11-3 Nick Scholfield Ryan Hatch 155
A seven-year-old bay gelding trained by Paul Nicholls.
A young smart and consistent horse who crowned last season by winning the Stanjames.com Greatwood gold cup in February.
He has had one race already this season, a hurdle at Chepstow which will put him spot on for this race today.
Another with a competitive chance.
6 wins from 19 starts (4 from 10 in chases) on ground ranging from good to soft through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs.

5 F1P7P- Splash Of Ginge 7 10-11 Nigel Twiston-Davies Ryan Hatch 149
7-year-old Bay gelding trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies.
A good horse with nice form and much the best of it on a soft surface. He had an uncharacteristically funny season just past when he fell at Cheltenham in December and was twice pulled up to races later.
If back to his best and the ground turns up soft he would have a good chance although this is very competitive.
4 wins from 20 starts (2 from 8 in chases) on ground ranging from good to soft through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs.

6 F221-4 Duke Of Navan 7 10-9 Nicky Richards Brian Harding 147
Seven-year-old Brown or Bay gelding trained by Nicky Richards.
A really good novice hurdler who seemed to lose his way for a short time but has bounced back to good form in novice company over fences.
Takes a step up in class today and also in distance.
Another nice horse would not have to improve an awful lot to be in the mix year today.
5 wins from 15 starts (2 from 6 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and 2 furlongs.

7 15145- Buywise 8 10-9 Evan Williams Paul Moloney 147
An eight-year-old Bay gelding trained by Evan Williams.
A really good hurdler who had his first chase last year in the Paddy Power at Cheltenham where he finished a respectable 5th of 18.
Despite then having one-run over hurdles, which he won, he ran respectably into more chases.
a nice horse with not many miles on the clock and a point-to-point winner therefore should get this trip easily and is an interesting runner.
6 wins from 13 starts (4 from 9 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 mile 7 furlongs.

8 151-93 Lord Ben 10 10-7 Henry De Bromhead J J Burke 145
A 10-year-old Bay gelding trained by Henry de Bromhead.
A really nice horse rarely runs a bad race however although often making the frame often finds one or two too good for him in the race.
He ran a respectable fifth in the Galway plate last season and is looking to step up in class here today.
6 wins from 32 starts (4 from 19 in chases) on ground ranging from good to firm through to good and up to a distance of 2 miles 4 furlongs.

9 3-3314 Brave Spartacus 9 10-7 Keith Reveley James Reveley 145
A nine-year-old Bay gelding trained by Keith Reveley.
A nice consistent horse was been in the first five places in his last 11 runs over the last two seasons.
He is well exposed and looks to have plenty on his plate year today
8 wins from 32 starts (5 from 12 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles 5 1/2 furlongs.

10 21-410 Surf And Turf 9 10-6 Kevin Frost Brian Hughes 144
A nine-year-old chestnut gelding trained by Kevin Frost.
A two times handicap chase winner at this course. He is a nice consistent sort and rarely runs a bad race but is stepping up considerably today on what he's done before.
8 wins from 38 starts (5 from 21 in chases) on ground ranging from good to firm through to good to soft and up to a distance of 2 miles 4 1/2 furlongs.

11 274-21 Le Bacardy 9 10-3 Dan Skelton Harry Skelton 141
A nine-year-old Bay gelding trained by Dan Skelton.
And nice progressive sort of horse taking a step up in class today.
He is improving and will have to continue to take part in the finish here today. He has bottom weight and that may be a help for him.
12 wins from 46 starts (5 from 17 in chases) on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles 4 1/2 furlongs.
