Race Preview

Big Zeb

A top class, consistent horse who was the winner of this race in 2010.

A three times runner in this race he fell in 2009 won in 2010 and was second last year to the very smart Sizing Europe.
Winner of the Irish equivalent race back in May before his summer break and on his return won the grade 2 Fortria Chase and then the Grade 1 Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase over Christmas. On his latest outing he met again with Sizing Europe in the Tied Cottage chase at Punchestown and was 15 lengths behind the winner.
A great horse with a great chance

Wins have come on ground ranging from good to heavy

Finian's Rainbow

Another classy runner from the in form Nicky Henderson Yard.

5 wins and two seconds from his 7 chase starts to date tells a tale of this horse. Second in last years Arkle and followed up at Aintree in the John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase. Looks to have a good chance of making the frame.

Wins have come on ground ranging from good to soft

Gauvain

A nice well exposed horse who would have to improve to win this race and at 10 years old perhaps that is asking a bit too much. However put up a fine performance in the Peterbrough chase when he had the smart Somersby in behind.

An outsiders chance of making the frame.

Wins have come on ground ranging from good to soft

I'm So Lucky

A good horse who looks just below this class.

A horse that runs well but has not won for almost two years. 7th in this race last year and could improve on that but would be a surprise winner.

Wins have come on ground ranging from Firm to Heavy

Kauto Stone

French import who has done nothing wrong since moving to the UK

Second in the tingle creek behind Sizing Europe and has a bit to make up on that performance but he is a young horse and comes from the in form again Paul Nicholls yard and can't be left out of the reckoning.

Wins have come on ground ranging from good / firm to soft

Realt Dubhl

Good hurdler who is making into a nice chaser.

Well thought of by his connections he was third in last years Arkle at the festival so likes the course.
Winner of the Powers Gold Cup Chase at Fairyhouse where he was staying on after two and a half miles. At the pace that this race will be run his undoubted stamina will put him in good stead if he can keep up with the pace.
Any significant move in the market should not be ignored but May prefer softer ground.

Wins have come on ground ranging from Good / Heavy

Sizing Europe

Top class horse, winner of this race last year and a worthy favorite.

Winner of the 2010 Arkle. Won this race last year before then being beaten by Big Zeb at the Punchestown festival.
This season his only defeat was over 3 miles but he has looked dominant over shorter trips. Has speed and jumps well and will take some beating if on song today.

Wins have come on ground ranging from good / heavy

Wishfull Thinking

A really good novice chaser who has not yet shown that he can do it at the top.

A disappointing 6th in the Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase at this course at the start of the season

It is difficult to assess fully this horses chances because of his bad recent form, but if he does get back to his best he could run well at a big price.

Wins have come on ground Good / soft
