The_2013_Race

An exciting race this with the superstar Sprinter Sacre trying the race for the first time. A top classs horse of the highest order who looks unbeatable

Second last year Sizing Europe will run well again today. Unbeaten this season and top for but will have to reply on Sprinter Sacre making a big mistake to win today.

Perhaps not on of the best betting races but we will see a remarkable champion crowned today!

Race Preview

Mail De Bievre

Smart performer in France on soft ground this horse has only run once back in February since coming to this country for trainer Tom George. Was supplemented for this race after a good performance in the Betfair Denman chase at Newbury where he finished fifth over 3 miles. Ran really well early on in that race and his connections obviously then thought 2 miles and a fast pace on this championship course would suit.
Wins have come (in France) on ground ranging from soft to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and six furlongs, one run previous here in a National Hunt flat race in 2008 over 13 furlongs.

Sanctuaire

This is a nice consistent horse. Winner of the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton at the Christmas meeting but could only finish fourth over 2 miles and half furlong at this course in January behind today's red-hot favourite Sprinter Sacre. He was 30 lengths behind the winner that day and it would be remarkable if he turned around that today. Will do well if running into a place.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and three furlongs.

Sizing Europe

Top class and consistent this fine chaser has run many good races in his career winning 14 times and being placed seven times in his 21 chase starts. Second in this race last year behind Finian's Rainbow and that was a really good place given that he was bumped when bypassing the final fence. Not without a chance today, in fact a really good chance should the very smart favourite not do what everyone expects. Could be the other horse to make the frame.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and three furlongs.

Somersby

A good horse and another with good consistent form. Was seventh in last year's Ryanair but has been a little below par this season. Looks to have it all to do today and would be a surprise winner.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 2 miles and five furlongs.

Sprinter Sacre

Outstanding, consistent and unbeaten in two seasons this horse is the real deal. Only seven years old and is seen by many as the complete banker for the meeting. Ran in the 2011 supreme novices hurdle and finished third. Was second in a novice hurdle in 2010 at Ascot over 2 miles and three furlongs. These are the only two races that this horse did not finish in first position. This horse looks completely unbeatable over this distance. He jumps extremely well and makes lots of distance at his jumps. Can't be beaten in the race, however only he could lose the race but this seems very likely. All the other horses are running either for place money or hoping that this horse does finally show some chink in his armour.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to heavy and up to a distance of 2 miles and one furlong.

Tataniano

A winner of a grade 1 chase at the Aintree Festival in 2010. A nice enough chaser who may be out of his depth in this race today.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 2 miles and two furlongs.

Wishful Thinking

A was second in the Jewson at the 2011 Festival. Ran well last season without winning being second behind Finian's Rainbow on two occasions. Looks better this season than last season where he fell in this race. Has been racing well and looks in good form. Could put in a good performance today and maybe the other horse in the frame at a good price.
Wins have come on ground ranging from good through to soft and up to a distance of 2 miles and five furlongs.
