Chacun Pour Soi. Said to be trainer Willie Mullins main fancies at this year's festival and one of his favourite horses. He could only manage third last year but was very impressive in the race before the festival and also after the festival. He was an odds on fav for the race but seemed to drift left a few fences from home. Got all back on terms however and so looked just to be beaten by two better horses on the day. He was very disappointing on his first run this season at Sandown but then bounced back to form back in Ireland in the Grade 1 Dublin Chase. Maybe he just does not travel well? A good horse none the less but there are a few that seem better here.

Energumene. Top class horse again from the Willie Mullins yard. He made all until he was caught after the last fence on the run-in by one of his rivals here last time out, Shishkin, in what was one of the races of the season so far. Another crack today and hoping to turn the positions around with him. Could well do that if everything goes his way.

Envoi Allen fell at the festival in last year's Marsh Novices chase. That was out of character as normally he is a good jumper. A winner of 13 of his 16 starts shows he has speed and class for this race. Although two wins from 4 starts this season he has not looked the force he once was and can be overlooked until his top form returns.

Funambule Sivola. A young improving horse who was only 3 and a bit lengths behind Shiskin at Aintree last season. He won a Grade 2 at Newbury last time out in Feb so is in form at the moment, however, was disappointing at this course in the Paddy Power on New Year's Day. It is difficult to tell if it was the course or the 4 furlongs further that day But he did jump out to the right that day.

Nuba Negra was second in the race last year and is hoping to go one better for the Skelton team here. He ran a poor race on his last outing back in December and looks to have been put away for this race. Sure to give a good amount and has claims here.

Politologue. After two runs in this race behind the superstar Altior, he finally was able to win this race in 2020 with a stunning performance leading from start to end and finishing 9 lengths + in front of his field. He missed last year's race and went straight to the Aintree festival. He has been running well but does not look the force of old and may struggle with the talented youngsters here.

Shishkin. 12 runs and 11 wins under rules. Unbeaten over fences and a complete superstar in the making. Can hit a flat spot in his races, something that may top talented horses seem to do. Travels well and finishes off his races with a turn of foot and oozing class. The one they all have to beat.

Put the Kettle On. Last year's winner available at 33/1 today somehow seems very unfair, however, she has not shown the form of last years race this season. An Arkle winner also and seems to love the course. She will get the mares allowance also today and her regular jockey is riding another today. She will run well and is no back number I suspect.

Selection : Shishkin - EW Put The Kettle On.
